Ashe Primary Students of the Week get free trips to the Zoo!

Representatives from the Urban League today surprised Ashe Primary students of the week with free tickets to the Boo and Zoo at the Audubon Zoo this weekend!  When Ms. Atkinson explained that the students of the week were selected by their fulfillment of Charter Way values, the guests asked primary students what the Charter Way was.  Primary responded with a rousing rendition of Kelly Regan's famous hit "We will live the Charter Way!"

Holocaust Survivor speaks to Dibert Middle School


WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 20 --Holocaust survivor Mrs. Levy tells middle schoolers at Dibert about her experiences escaping the Jewish Ghetto in Warsaw during the Holocaust.    Dibert students showed respect and enthusiasm with a wide array of questions and support.

ESY Update - Green Iron Chef and Cooking Class Slots Available

The Edible Schoolyard has two programs coming up this week that they would like to invite FirstLine staff to attend - on Wednesday, October 20, the ESY is offering its first community cooking class.  THe class will take place in the teaching kitchen at Green Charter School, and for $50 per person guests can learn to cook a seasonal meal, enjoy a glass of wine and receive a recipe packet.

And on Friday, October 22, 7th graders at Green will participate in the 3rd annual 7th grade Iron Chef!  This year's episode features Iron Chefs Susan Spicer, Frank Brigtsen and chefs from Commander's Palace, all competing with a group of 7th grade sous chefs for everlasting glory!  From 12-2 this Friday at Green, come experience the excitement!

Green gets a new flagpole!





October 18, 2010 marked the dedication of Green Charter's new flagpole, a donation from the Octavia Foundation.  Jay Altman describes the installation of the flagpole as symbolic of Green's "rebirth" as a school with high aspirations for it's students.   Green students prepared and hung the flag while Walter Sandifer accompanied with a drumroll, then all attendees said the pledge of allegiance.   Lookin' sharp, Green!
