LHA Hosts its first 8th grade Graduation!

Langston Hughes Academy hosted its first ever 8th grade graduation on May 27, 2011. As LHA's founding class graduated, students, staff and parents were clearly emotional and responded vociferously to every student and staff member's heartfelt appreciations. The event featured handmade kinte cloth sashes, excellence awards in each department, a performance by the LHA band, visits from NOLA 180 board members and a guest speech from Judge Nadine Ramsey. Scholar reflections from Kamau J. and Jarelle R., as well as a valedictorian speech from D'Juanna J. brought the house down, and when the LHA Band played "Every Breath You Take", the crowd was on their feet. Look out for more special occasions as Dibert and Green graduate on June 4, and Ashe graduates on June 9! For more details on graduation ceremonies, contact the schools directly.
